We Love Asian drama: Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)

Great Teacher Onizuka
This Asian Drama is based on a manga written by Fijisawa Tohru. 'GTO' is the reason why i fell in love with Asian Drama. A friend of mine told me to watch this Japanese play. At first, I was skeptical for the very reason that I don't understand Japanese and reading subtitles seemed like a very stupid thing to do. Anyhow, I gave Asian dramas a try thinking that I would see the first episode and thats it. But, when I finished watching the first episode, I could't stop my self from watching the second. Then, there was no turning back. Now I am running a blog dedicated to Asian Dramas.

Anyways 'GTO' is a light comedy Asian Drama with lots of Karate. It is about Onizuka Ikichi, a graduate from a third-rate university and has ties to a huge motorcycle gang. His lifelong dream to become a teacher comes true when he is hired by an eccentric Director of a high school. The class given to him is considered as a hopeless group of individuals who would do any thing to make their teacher's life a living hell. These students act in this manner because they were betrayed by their previous teacher. Now Onizuka has to regain their trust and steer them back in the right direction. Other teachers don't like him and are always conspiring against him.

This Asian drama teaches us that teenagers do sometimes lose their way due to some unfortunate incident or acquaintance, but this does not mean that they cannot be brought back to the right path. As adults, it is our duty to guide them through this phase and intervene where necessary. In other words, we should never give up on someone, no matter how hopeless their case is.

Do watch it!
